The ancient seat of Fyvie Castle is deemed one of the foremost haunted sites in the world. At least 9 different stories of supernatural import present themselves as facets of its layers of history. In chronological order, they can be summarised as follows:

Lady Meldrum - The Grey Lady - 13th Century

Described variously as a head ghost, greenish apparition and unruly poltergeist (or noisy ghost), this multifaceted entity is, in truth of its origins, a spirit-form of the former thirteenth century occupant, Lady Meldrum, wife of the laird who presided at the time, but a fiercely independent woman of strange intentions who decreed that, upon her death, she was to be interred in the walls of her bedroom in the Meldrum Tower.
